Installation and Service Engineers - Covering the M4 Corridor

Job Description:

We are looking to recruit Installation and Service Engineers to join our existing team. We are based in Donington, Lincolnshire but due to roles across the UK we are specifically looking for engineers to cover the South and South West. 

We would welcome applicants who live in the following areas:  Oxford, Swindon, Bristol, Reading, Bath or surrounding areas

Main Job Purpose:

To carry out the installation of security and fire systems in line with NSI requirements and the associated British and European standards.

Essential Requirements:

  • Previous experience in a similar role
  • Understanding of Electrical Principles
  • Understanding of IP networks
  • Want to progress in a diverse industry with electrical knowledge being at the forefront but will extensively include IT, IP networking, System programming, Mechanical engineering
  • Positive, flexible outlook and willing to travel to contracts nationwide.


Desirable Requirements:

  • Experience of the following:
  • Electrical Principles
  • Electrical Installation practices
  • Electrical fault finding
  • IP Networking
  • Intruder alarms
  • Fire alarms
  • CCTV systems
  • Detection activated monitored CCTV systems
  • Access Control Systems

  • Emergency lighting.


Main Duties of Role:

  • To act in a professional and friendly manner when dealing with all customers and GBSG Staff
  • To carry out Installations and/or maintenance on the above systems to meet quality standards and company policies and procedures
  • Provide 24 hour callout out as required on a rota basis, including weekends, public holidays and periods of staff holiday and sickness
  • Use of technologies and admin systems as required (PDA, tablet)
  • Liaise with the Technical Manager for advice on systems and technical problems
  • To attend meetings as requested
  • To ensure customer needs are satisfied regarding sales and service
  • To ensure compliance to security systems response as to NSI requirements
  • To ensure adherence to the Quality requirements of ISO9000 and compliance with the National Security Inspectorate and to complete internal audits as directed
  • To maintain a good working relationship with other departments
  • To attend internal and external training courses as and when required
  • To work within the confines of the Data Protection Act 1998: respecting the rights of Data Subjects and ensuring that personal data is processed as described in the Company's Data Protection Policy
  • To assist in other areas of the company operations (within capabilities) as required
  • Such other duties as required for proper fulfilment of the role.

Technical Salesperson

Job Description:

Main Job Purpose:

We are looking to strengthen our technical sales team by recruiting a first class Technical Salesperson. Working mainly in business-to-business sales (but with some business to consumer sales), you will be involved with all sales aspects of business development including sales generation, processing, reporting, quoting/estimating and administration. You will be tasked with growing our business within the current geographic area and also look to expand our existing services and products to new and existing customers.

With full accountability for your technical sales function, you will be responsible for meeting and delivering targets in accordance with company expectations, working closely and positively with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the appropriate objectives and priorities are supported and achieved.

Using your proven technical expertise, you will understand our customers’ requirements and then incorporate your technical knowledge into your sales pitch.

Essential requirements:

  • Demonstrable record of success in the achievement of sales, profit and strategic objectives
  • Possess a technical qualification (or qualified by experience) in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
  • Previous experience of taking accountability for the on-time implementation of organisation targets and performance objectives
  • Record of successfully achieving strategic objectives as defined by the Managing Director

  • Positive, collaborative, respectful approach to working with other departments
  • Knowledge of industry standards and ability to interpret these into system design

Role accountabilities:

  • Ownership and accountability for the full sales process from enquiry to design.
  • Identify and explore market growth opportunities that are complimentary to business plan objectives.
  • Develop business relationships and identify key accounts in order to implement growth, including identification of cross product selling opportunities to existing and new customers.
  • Maintain Regular contact with key accounts and log all communications through Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software.
  • Use software systems internally to ensure all data is recorded, including logging of calls and customer liaisons through CRM.
  • Generate enquires through local networking events
  • Identify opportunities and make contact for introductory visit
  • Work closely with Marketing and provide support and follow up to strategic marketing campaigns
  • Work closely with senior management team colleagues to ensure operational delivery of accounts
  • Provide support to other sales team personnel, including attending customer meetings and site visits as required
  • Ensure that you are accessible to customers either in person or by phone to directly discuss issues
  • Provide support and be accessible for admin and finance teams, providing direct customer contact relating to account queries including negotiation and recovery of funds where non-payment of invoices occur
  • Working as a member of the Sales Team, coordinate own sales forecasting, planning, and budgeting processes used within the sales organisation
  • Proactively monitor and strive to maintain high levels of quality, accuracy, and process consistency throughout the sales process
  • Work to ensure all business leads and objectives are assigned and dealt with in a timely and appropriate fashion
  • Work closely with subordinates and colleagues to inspect design and installation quality and prioritise opportunities for improvement
  • Directs and supports the consistent implementation of company initiatives
  • Build peer support and strong internal-company relationships with colleagues at all levels
  • Such other duties as reasonably required for successful fulfilment of the role
  • Observe all safety rules and procedures, ensuring that the work area, equipment and materials are left in a safe state; and that reasonable care is taken for the health and safety of all fellow employees and any other persons within the work area
  • Work in a manner that actively seeks to reduce any negative environmental impact in relation to the processes and procedures operating within their area and across the wider business e.g. reduction of waste, recycling etc
  • Carry out and comply with all company policies, procedures and instructions and any other reasonable duties deemed necessary by the company.

Salary & commission structure:

Basic salary: to include all of the above role responsibilities including cross selling of all products.
Commission: to be paid on any direct sales in line with the GBSG Sales Commission Plan

Further commission based packages will be made available from time to time in conjunction with the GBSG strategic development and in line with the Marketing plan for the expansion of Monitoring and Maintenance contracts where commission will be calculated on a predefined plan basis at the beginning of each campaign.

Sales Administrator

Job Description:

To assist & support the administration team.  Production of technical quotations and sales support literature, preparation of all sales Installation, handover and takeover packs along with the rest of the team.

Essential Requirements: 

  • Previous experience in a similar role
  • Proven strong technical administration skills
  • Attention to detail
  • An excellent listener 
  • Friendly, positive, good telephone manner
  • Flexible & engaged
  • Fully IT literate, particularly Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook calendar
  • Audio Typing.

Desirable Requirements: 

  • Knowledge of security solutions
  • Knowledge of security and fire safety industry
  • Experience of Microsoft Dynamics CRM.

Role Accountabilities: 

  • Prepare quotations for the sales team, working in conjunction with CAD operator and other members of the administration team as necessary
  • Send out quotations to customer by email and post if required and keep track of these via the CRM system
  • Contact customers to make sure they have received quotations and provide regular follow-up, as and when required
  • Processing of quote acceptances from customers
  • Produce sales installation, handover and takeover packs alongside the rest of the team
  • Keep CRM system up-to-date with all information relating to quote / project
  • Assist with administration monthly reports and KPI’s.
  • Such other duties as reasonable and appropriate for proper fulfilment of the role
  • Observe all safety rules and procedures, ensuring that the work area, equipment and materials are left in a safe state; and that reasonable care is taken for the health and safety of all fellow employees and any other persons within the work area
