NEWS - Calling for a sensible solution to enforce regulation
GB Security Group's managing director Stephen Wright is calling for a sensible solution to security regulation so that bad practice is stamped out.
"Regulation is a big issue," he said. "GB Security has been a longstanding contributor to the development of industry standards and our NSI ARC Gold remote video response centre was one of the first NSI ARCs to gain BS 8418 approval.
"We are really keen on regulation but there has been a huge amount of unnecessary duplication of requirements in recent years particularly around the licensing of security staff for manned guarding and control room monitoring, which has generally been left unenforced.
Stephen added: "It means that companies like us invest considerable resources in operating to the standard, and complying with regulations, while others act outside and flout the rules, saving themselves costs and leaving their customers exposed. The Coalition Government has identified the quango concerned for the cut, but we need to see a sensible solution to the issue."
