NEWS - Belt and Braces upgrade gives a boost to intruder alarm security
Maximum security through new dual path signalling is on offer to all users of the current Redcare and Digi Comm services.
Both new systems work by providing a second back-up telephone line for alarm signalling through a simple upgrade, which is being undertalen under a half price offer for GBSG customers.
For Redcare, the preferred choice for bigger commercial customers, the upgrade to Redcare GSM introduces a cellular line to sit alongside the existing landline, to provide a secure signal path that will kick in if the landline goes down. The benefit is that if a line is cut, it will still signal using the back-up route.
Similarly, the Digi Comm upgrade to Dual Comm. Here, the primary route is through a Vodafone cellular connection, with the landline providing the back-up in case the cellular signal drops for any reason. By making the landline the secondary route, the upgrade also provides a cut in call costs, as it cuts out the current Digi Comm system of regular dialling in.
"Insurers are increasingly demanding this sort of security," explained director Dave Simpson. "In the long run, a low cost upgrade to this advanced technology should enhance security and also trim costs."
He added: "By having a dual path signalling device, this helps to distinguish genuine alarms from false alarms and can stop your Police response time being withdrawn."
Redcare Classic upgrade to Redcare GSM:
Redcare Classic customers can upgrade to the new Redcare GSM system, with a 50% reduction in the installation charge.
Redcare GSM enables customers to receive all the benefits of the Redcare Classic system plus dual path communication. The secondary communication path provides maximum protection and ensures alarm activations can continue to get through to the alarm receiving centre (ARC), even if your phone line has been cut or damaged.
The primary communication path is still your BT telephone line but this will now be backed up by a secondary communication path provided by a digital mobile phone network. Redcare GSM uses the O2 network.
If either communication path is interfered with by an intruder, the other continues to monitor for any further alarms and transmits them as 'confirmed activations' - extra confirmation that an intruder is on the premises and that the alarm isn't false. A 'comfirmed activation' attracts immediate response from the emergency services.
If you currently implement the Redcare Classic system, upgrading to Redcare GSM would simply involve replacing the existing communication equipment installed within your intruder alarm control panel.
The cost of upgrading will be an installation charge of £100.00 plus VAT, which includes a discount of 50% as you are a valued customer and your annual maintenance and monitoring costs will increase by £150.00 plus VAT.
Digi Comm upgrade to DualCom GPRS:
Digi Comm customers can upgrade to DualCom GPRS to benefit from dual path signalling, with a 50% reduction in the installation charge.
DualCom GPRS is a single hardware platform which fits every grade of security risk including Grade 2, 3 and 4 security installations. It is an intruder alarm signalling device that uses the Vodafone network and your telephone and / or IP path to transmit intruder signals at high speed.
Multiple signalling paths ensure that DualCom GPRS will always have a backup in the event of an accidental or deliberate fault on any path. A dual signalling device also helps to distinguish genuine alarms from false alarms and can therefore prevent your Police response time from dropping to a lower level or being withdrawn.
The DualCom GPRS range is made up of the following:
- DualCom GPRS G2 which offers an affordable dual signalling solution, designed for lower risk premises, usually domestic or small commercial installations.
- DualCom GPRS G3 which is designed for medium risk premises, ideal for larger commercial installations and is approved by all leading insurance companies.
- DualCom GPRS G4 which is designed for high risk premises and is the ultimate signalling solution for premium commercial installations.
As you currently implement the Digi Comm system, upgrading to DualCom GPRS would simply involve replacing the existing communication equipment installed within your intruder alarm control panel. In certain circumstances there may be a requirement to conduct a site survey to evaluate the Vodafone cellular coverage.
The cost of upgrading will be an installation charge of £100.00 plus VAT, which includes a discount of 50% as you are a valued customer and your annual maintenance and monitoring costs will increase by £150.00 plus VAT.
