UK riots spark increased demand for CCTV
Business and homeowners have been turning to CCTV as a route to securing their property following the riots which hit major UK cities in August.
That's according to the British Security Industry Association, the trade association for the security industry in the UK, which sets strict quality standards for its members, who include GB Security.

In focus: Monitoring Operations Director Tom Smith
The first in a series of profiles of the team that makes up GB Security Group.
Operations director Tom Smith is an ex army officer, who draws on his service background to manage both guarding and monitoring personnel within GB Security.
Responsible for GB Monitoring and GBSG Guarding, he joined the company in 1997 after 30 years service with the Royal Engineers, bringing the management skills he honed in the field to direct a team working under pressure and round the clock.

GB Security are testing internet protocol technology for intruder alarm monitoring in a move that will open the door to remotely programme, test and monitor alarm systems.
The move is possible because GB Security has its own monitoring station, opening the door for more advanced services such as this.
