GB Security Group have installed CCTV systems, both internal and external, for many Medical Centres nationwide, and whilst doing so, have identified the need to provide the means by which doctors can undertake their necessary training with the least inconvenience or embarrassment for their patient.

Working towards their examinations, trainee doctors have to provide recorded evidence of how they conduct patient consultations. This is usually done by the setting up of a camcorder and tripod in the corner of the room, for each selected consultation. Care has to be taken that the examination of a patient isn’t viewed, and therefore the doctor may re-position and stop and start the camcorder several times, with the patient often understandably feeling uncomfortable.

GBSG provides an unobtrusive fixed system. A camera is installed in the corner of the room, providing high quality colour images of both doctor and patient. A microphone is either wall or ceiling mounted which facilitates the recording of all audible communication. To provide a recording of the consultation, the system is connected back to either a DVD recorder or a VCR, usually located in a cupboard within the room.

Activation of the recording is carried out by using two switches, both installed on the wall adjacent to the doctor’s desk - one to record audio, one to record video. When in use, lights illuminate to show what has been activated, audio and video, or just audio.

Simple to use, the doctor inserts a tape or DVD at the beginning of surgery hours, and then only has to use the switches to operate the system, and with a very visible indication of what is being recorded, the patient has peace of mind knowing exactly what is being monitored.
