CCTV Systems - Legislation and Standards

All CCTV Systems installed by GB Security Group conform to the requirements of both the Police and insurance companies.

GB Security Group is accredited through the National Security Inspectorate (NSI) as a NACOSS Gold Installer. This ensures that all of the CCTV systems that we install comply with industry standards.

As the CCTV industry becomes more regulated, choosing an NSI approved installer helps to ensure that you are getting a reliable system.

  • National Security Inspectorate (NSI) NACOSS Gold - This ensures the highest level of compliance with NSI guidance. Accredited companies, like GBSG, are audited to guarantee that the installations of security systems are to industry standards. It also ensures that the company is fully supported by an ISO 9001 management system to guarantee the undertaking of key procedures such as staff training, false alarm management, customer satisfaction and complaint procedures.
  • Association of Chief Police Officers (ACPO) policy – The ACPO is about the requirements of police forces regarding the methods in which systems are policed.
  • British Security Industry Association (BSIA) – The BSIA is an industry body who influence and develop standards and procedures through input from manufacturers, installers, ACPO, insurers and alarm receiving centres.

Industry Standards

GB Security Group will work within the industry standards to produce an effective CCTV system. CCTV systems are installed to comply with BS EN 5032-7 and NSP 104, which are the NSI’s interpretation of European and British Standards.

Additionally there is the BS 8418 standard initially released in 2003 and due for update in 2010. The BS 8418 standard is for monitored detector activated CCTV systems and is relevant to the installation and monitoring of the system.

GBSG were involved in the implementation of the original standard and have played an important role in the update to the standard. The BS8418 standard ensures that systems get given the best response level from the police, resulting in reduced insurance premiums.
