Working hard to keep your farm safe
An overview of farm security
Any act of theft or vandalism can have a devastating effect on a farming business; without vital equipment farmers are unable to carry out their day-to-day business. This is why protecting your property and using a robust integrated farm security system is so important.
The cost of rural crime cannot be ignored. In the latest NFU survey it was estimated that rural theft and criminal activity costs the UK economy £44.5 million on an annual basis*. In their report the NFU detail the following top five types of rural crime:
- Vehicle theft
- Rural business theft
- Livestock theft
With our head office based in Lincolnshire, a county that produces around 25% of the national vegetable production, we have many years’ experience in the design and installation of farm security systems. We can provide a full package for security encompassing intruder alarms, CCTV, access control and fire detection and alarm systems.
A fundamental element of any farm security solution is the control of access to yards and outbuildings. Electronic gates, barriers and doors help to prevent unauthorised access. Deterrence by surveillance is also a popular measure. With fixed CCTV cameras, opportunist theft, vandalism and fly tipping is discouraged. If the area in which surveillance is needed is not supported by a power source or broadband, then we can design a wireless CCTV system, with a built-in power source and image transmission by GPRS.
Through experience we are able to design security and fire solutions that will not only provide exceptional levels of protection but also meet wider business needs. Examples include the use of access control technology to monitor employee movement and send instant notification of deliveries.
